About me
I am currently an Associate Professor at Mugla University and a member of the Philosophy Department. I have received my Bachelor's degree in 1992 at Hacettepe University (Turkey) and my degree of "Dr. phil." in 2001 at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (Germany).
My research interests are in epistemology, ontology, existential philosophy and philosophy of mind. Immanuel Kant and Karl Jaspers have always been two leading figures in my research work. But currently I am focusing my research efforts in problems concerning philosophy of mind, such as the problem of subjectivity, reductionism, emergentism, artificial intelligence, computationalism and connectionism.
I am an enthusiastic Linux user and an admirer of the "GNU Philosophy". I am currently coding mainly in C and Perl but I want to deepen my experience both in lower level as well as in higher level languages. My interest in programming languages is a little bit more than a pure hobby. That is I hope to have a better understanding of some concepts which I couldn't have from pure theoretical considerations without any experience.
